Alex Squadron is a writer from New York. He attended Washington University in St. Louis, where he studied writing and American culture. While in college, he held editorial internships at Sports Illustrated, SLAM and the NBA, developing his skills as a journalist. Upon graduating, Alex was hired as a sports reporter for the New York Post. He covered all the major New York sports teams and eventually initiated his own weekly NBA column “Court Awareness,” which ran in print and online. For three years, he then served as an associate editor for SLAM. Alex supervised website operations, assisted production of videos and podcasts, ran SLAM’s social media accounts and was the primary staff writer, producing cover stories on NBA stars such as Stephen Curry, Dwyane Wade, Jayson Tatum, Zion Williamson, Trae Young, Kemba Walker, Lou Williams, Paolo Banchero and more. During his time with SLAM, he also reported on numerous marquee events, including the NBA Finals, NBA All-Star Weekend and the FIBA World Cup in China.
Alex has always been interested in detailed storytelling, which led him to pursue a career as an author. His first book, Life in the G: Minor League Basketball and the Relentless Pursuit of the NBA, is available now.
